Design agency · Calgary, Alberta

Websites, landing pages & advertising management, built with clear communication.

We are a small Calgary studio that builds the digital side of local businesses and then explains exactly what we did. Fixed prices agreed up front, a written update every Friday, and everything we make handed over in your name.

01What we do

Three things, done properly.

We deliberately do not offer everything. These are the three areas where we can point at results and explain how we got them.

02How we work

You should never have to chase us for an update.

Most agency frustration comes down to not knowing what is happening. Our process is built around removing that, not around impressing you with a methodology.

  1. 01Week one

    We listen first

A working session, not a sales call. We want to hear how enquiries actually arrive, what your team is tired of explaining and what a good month looks like in numbers. You leave with a written plan, a fixed price and a date.

    • Ninety-minute discovery session
    • Written scope you approve before work starts
    • Fixed price, no hourly surprises
    Stage 1 of 3
  2. 02Weeks two to eight

    We build in the open

You get a live link from the first week and a short written update every Friday, whether or not there is good news. Feedback goes in one place. Nothing gets built for three weeks in silence and revealed as a surprise.

    • Live preview link from week one
    • Written update every Friday
    • One shared place for all feedback
    Stage 2 of 3
  3. 03Launch and beyond

    We hand it over properly

Launch day includes a walkthrough recording, written documentation and training for whoever will be making changes. Then thirty days of support at no charge, because the questions that matter usually turn up in week three.

    • Training and a recorded walkthrough
    • Thirty days of post-launch support
    • You own every account and asset

Every project starts with a working session, not a proposal document. We would rather spend ninety minutes understanding the business than a week writing a deck about it.
04Why harwood media

Good work is the minimum. Being easy to work with is the difference.

Almost every business that comes to us has been let down by an agency before. Usually not by the work itself, but by silence, jargon and an invoice that did not match the conversation.

  • Communication

    A written update every Friday

Whether the week went well or not. You should never have to email an agency to ask what is happening with your own project.

  • Communication

    Plain language, always

Reports and updates are written for a business owner. If a term needs a glossary, we have failed to explain it properly.

  • Communication

    Fixed prices agreed in writing

You approve a scope and a number before work starts. We do not send surprise invoices, and we do not bill for the time it takes to answer your questions.

  • Community

    We work where you work

We will come to your shop, your yard or your clinic. Some of the best decisions on our projects came from a morning spent watching how the business actually runs.

  • Community

    You own everything

Every domain, account, asset and line of code is yours from day one. If we part ways, you lose nothing but our access.

  • Craft

We will talk you out of things

If what you have asked for will not get you what you want, we will say so and explain why. Agreeing with everything is not a service.

05In their words

What clients bring up unprompted.

We asked three clients what they would tell someone considering working with us. None of them led with the design.

  • What sold us was the Friday email. Every single week, on time, including the weeks when the news was that something had taken longer than planned. Our last agency went quiet for a month and then sent an invoice.

  • They found a tracking error two agencies had missed and told us straight away, even though it made the previous reporting look bad and none of it was their doing. That is when I knew we could trust the numbers.

  • I asked for a bigger gallery. They asked why, listened to the answer, and built a booking form instead. It was the right call and they were willing to talk me out of my own idea to get there.

We can be at your shop by Thursday morning.

Every client we have is a business with a real address, and most of them are within half an hour of our office off 11th Avenue. That matters more than it sounds. We have walked roofing crews through their morning, sat in a taproom on a Tuesday night counting covers and stood in a trailhead parking lot checking whether a site was readable with gloves on.

None of that comes out of a discovery questionnaire. It comes from being close enough to drive over, and from a city where the person you build a website for is someone you will run into again at the farmers market.

07Common questions

The things people ask before they call.

Prices, timelines and ownership, answered here rather than held back for a sales conversation.

Something we have not covered? Send it over or email hello@harwoodmedia.ca. We answer every enquiry by the next business day.

What does a website actually cost?

Most of our website projects land between $8,000 and $28,000 depending on how many page types there are and how much content needs writing. Landing pages generally run $3,000 to $6,000. Advertising management is a monthly retainer starting at $1,400 plus your ad spend, which always goes directly to Google or Meta and never through us. We quote a fixed price in writing before anything starts, and that number does not move unless you ask for something that was not in the scope.

How long will it take?

A landing page is usually two to three weeks. A full website is typically six to ten weeks from kickoff to launch. The variable is almost always content: photography, copy and getting sign-off from everyone who needs to see it. We tell you at the start which parts depend on you, and we chase those politely and repeatedly so the date holds.

Who owns the site and the ad accounts?

You do, completely, from day one. Domains, hosting, the codebase, Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, analytics: everything is created under your ownership with us added as a user. If we ever stop working together, we remove our access and you keep working without interruption. There is nothing to unwind and nothing held hostage.

Do I have to be in Calgary to work with you?

No, though most of our clients are here or within an hour of the city. Being local means we can walk your shop floor, ride along on a service call or shoot photography in your actual space, and that consistently produces better work. We do take on clients elsewhere in Alberta and across Canada when the fit is right, and we are upfront when we think proximity would have made a real difference.

Can our team update the site ourselves?

Yes, and we build with that assumption. Text, images, staff, projects, pricing and posts are all editable without touching code. Every project includes training for whoever will be doing it, a recorded walkthrough to refer back to, and written documentation. If you would rather we handle changes, we offer that too, but it is a choice and not a dependency.

What happens after launch?

Thirty days of support at no extra charge, because the questions that matter tend to appear two or three weeks in. After that you can go it alone, buy a block of hours as you need them, or move onto a monthly care plan that covers updates, monitoring, backups and a set amount of change work. Plenty of our clients pick the first option, and that is a fine outcome.

Start a conversation

Tell us what is not working. We will tell you straight whether we can fix it.

No pitch deck, no pressure. A ninety-minute session, a written plan and a fixed price. If we are not the right fit, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
